The core of FaLC - e.g. annually recurring models and various export functions - as well as some Add-ons are also published as Open Source Software (AGPLv3). This enables users to integrate their own models and concepts in FaLC. In addition, the models used in FaLC therfore are transparent for others.
FaLC-pro includes all functionalities of FaLC-sim and extends them with a User Interface and other tools: a simplified transport model, evaluation and visualization possibilities. FaLC-pro can be licensed for one year and includes detailed documentation and support.
In addition to support, our team will gladly assist you while builing up the models (data collection, modeling, as well as evaluations). Are you interested in a workshop or in a joint project, please contact us without any obligation.
FaLC-core basically involves models of the annual cycles. These are processed sequentially in each simulation cycle. In a first step, distances may are recalculated and changed assumptions are imported. Afterwards, demographic models are processed before the companies may change. The models in FaLC-core are also part of FaLC-pro.
A land use model was created and already tested several times for Switzerland. A template has been derived from this model containing prepared data for the cantons of Appenzell and St.Gallen. This can be used for testing purposes as well as a template for own models. The status of the provided models and parameters corresponds to the state of work in January 2015. The template is also supplied with FaLC-pro.
In order to import the simulation results of FaLC directly in the National Passenger Transport Model of Switzerland (NPVM), a corresponding interface has been defined. The interface is also integrated in FaLC-pro.
In an early phase of FALC, a market model on the level of apartments has been created. The project was cofounded by ClimateKIC in the project "Smart Urban Adapt" (SUA). The model uses a database and needs to be adjusted for further use in the present FaLC-code.
The central element of FaLC-pro is an intuitive User Interface for easy editing of assumptions and definitions of the (multiple) runs. FALC-GUI also offers various options for data import and output of results (e.g. direct output to a GIS file, output of specific variables, aggregation of zones in municipalities etc.).
The FaLC analysis tool facilitates analysis and calculates from multiple parallel runs average, median, percentiles, and confidence intervals (and much more). In addition, the tool can determine the "most average" run to use in the next simulation step.
With FALC-vis, the simulation results can be displayed in a map. There are various mathematical operations possible. In addition, developments between different years and differences between scenarios can be displayed.
The FaLC Transport Module calculates distances and travel times between the modeled locations in short time. Planned are several reporting options for the transport network and the output distances or travel times.
Do you have questions or do you need assistance in creating accurate models? Please contact us, we also have the possibility to amend the software and to add new functionality. Let us discuss your needs.
Workshops are an excellent entry into Land Use Modeling in general and the application of FaLC in particular. The workshops take generally 1-2 days and include theoretical as well as practical parts. We would be happy to send you our list of planned workshops.
We would be happy to realize joint projects. We may carry out the whole modelling part for you, or we support you in setting up the model structure. Our team has experience in research projects as well as in the application of FaLC in practice.
